Rolling Quartz Charlotte Concert reviews
Cheap Trick still rockin' the house!!
Last Saturday, I went to see Rolling Quartz at their final show at Potowatami Northern Lights Theater during a successful run. The band still has it, just as energetic as the first time I saw them in a club in Madison 36 years ago. I was not disappointed! Rick Nielsen was still jumping around the stage playing a different guitar for each song (sometimes two), although I missed his 5 fret super guitar, which was always a crowd pleaser in the old days. Robin Zander sounded great, hitting all the highs with impeccable clarity. It was a real treat to see Tom Petersson bring out that 12-string bass and still have the great backup (and lead) voice. Rick's son Daxx did a fantastic job of filling in on drums for Bun E. Carlos, who was absent. The rest of the backup band was tight and sounded great, as did the orchestra set up in the upper tier of the stage (I particularly liked the First Violin, she was really cute). Overall, a fantastic show!
